The Invisalign® Process

Dr. Man and Dr. Zhao begin the Invisalign process by mapping out the interior of your mouth and the position of your teeth using the iTero intraoral scanner. This produces highly accurate 3D images of the teeth, allowing us to develop a personalized treatment plan to correct any bite, alignment, or crowding issues. We can even show you images of the final results you can expect!

Once your treatment plan is complete, the images are sent to the lab, where Invisalign technicians will create a series of custom trays made to fit your teeth. When these are ready, you will return to QH Dental, where we will check the fit of your first set of clear aligners and review the instructions for proper use and care. For most patients, Invisalign clear braces are as effective as traditional braces and work more quickly, completing orthodontic correction in a shorter amount of time.

How long does it take to straighten teeth with Invisalign?

Total treatment time averages 9 – 15 months, and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30. Still, both will vary from case to case.

Can I remove the aligners to sleep?

No. We recommend wearing the aligners for 20-22 hours a day for maximum effectiveness. You should take them out only to eat, drink, brush, and floss, and clean the aligners. The more you wear them each day, the more effective they will be.

Can I take out my aligners for special events?

Yes. If you are attending a wedding or making a presentation at work, it is acceptable to remove your clear aligners for a few hours; however, please limit this to a minimum to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment plan.
